This June, more than 17,400 students from 127 countries and every corner of Canada earned their degrees from the University of Toronto – with more than 15,000 of them crossing the stage inside Convocation Hall during one of 36 ceremonies.
Along with their family and friends, the Class of 2026 then spilled out onto Front Campus where the real celebrations began. Friends piled into photos, proud parents shed tears, and everyone, it seemed, came away wearing a smile.
U of T photographers were there to capture memorable moments from this year’s spring convocation:

Graduating students form a line outside Convocation Hall – all smiles ahead of the ceremony.
The chancellor's procession is led into Convocation Hall by the Eagle Feather Bearer, carrying the ceremonial feather and wearing the beaded stole.

In celebrating their achievements, some graduates went big for convocation – literally.

Getting creative: a U of T Scarborough grad peeks through the U of T sign on Front Campus as a fellow grad snaps a picture.
A U of T tradition: the last graduating student in each ceremony – in this case Barry Leo Roy – is asked to stand inside Convocation Hall before graduands are called to cross the stage. Why? It’s a gentle reminder to the crowd to remain seated until everyone has had their big moment.
Chancellor Wes Hall shares a moment with the bedel, carrying U of T’s ceremonial mace, outside Convocation Hall.

Reaching new heights: Family and friends toss a graduate into the air to celebrate the milestone moment.
