Schwartz Reisman Innovation Campus recognized with 2025 American Architecture Award

The University of Toronto's Schwartz Reisman Innovation Campus, a 13-storey building that is turbocharging the next wave of Canadian innovation in AI, life sciences and entrepreneurship, has been recognized with a 2025 American Architecture Award

Presented by the Chicago Athenaeum and the European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies, the awards recognize cutting-edge design in the U.S. or by American architecture firms working abroad.

Designed by New York-based Weiss/Manfredi in collaboration with Toronto's Teeple Architects Inc., the Schwartz Reisman Innovation Campus brings together key anchors of Toronto's innovation ecosystem including the Vector Institute for Artificial Intelligence, U of T's Innovations and Partnerships Office, U of T Entrepreneurship, startups and corporate partners. The building also offers flexible, loft-style spaces for classrooms, labs and events. It is noted for its spacious ground floor plaza, internal winter gardens and sweeping views of the Toronto skyline.

"Envisioned as a luminous beacon for discovery and exploration, the Schwartz Reisman Innovation Campus supports the University of Toronto's aspiration to create a dynamic incubator for intellectual exchange and world-class research," the jurors wrote.

The project was made possible by a $100-million donation from Gerald Schwartz and Heather Reisman
