Jaris Swidrovich receives CAGS-ProQuest Distinguished Dissertation Award

Jaris Swidrovich, an assistant professor in the Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy, has been recognized with a 2025 CAGS-ProQuest Distinguished Dissertation Award.

Presented annually by the Canadian Association for Graduate Studies (CAGS), the award recognizes doctoral dissertations that make significant and original contributions to their academic communities and Canadian society.

Swidrovich's dissertation, conducted at the University of Saskatchewan, examines the experiences of First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples in pharmacy education in Canada. Drawing upon a variety of Indigenous methodologies and conversational traditions, the research probes the tensions that exist between Indigenous Knowledges and Western medical paradigms.

"Dr. Swidrovich’s research will continue to shape the future of pharmacy education and practice," said Chelsea Gabel, an associate professor at McMaster University and a member of Swidrovich's PhD committee. "In addition to the outstanding written quality of his dissertation, Dr. Swidrovich’s oral defense was incredibly moving and a testament to his passion, deep knowledge, and the significant contributions he has made to the profession of pharmacy."
