Allison Green, a master of education student at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE) at the University of Toronto, has received the 2025-26 OISE Scholarship for Indigenous Students.
The award is granted based on academic merit and demonstrated contributions to community.
Green, a secondary school teacher who has worked with youth at Quinte Mohawk School on the Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory, has focused her studies on decolonization, land-based pedagogies and inequities between federal and provincial schooling systems. Alongside her coursework, she has continued working as a private tutor and supply teacher in Toronto, integrating her professional experience with her academic work.
“I’m really grateful for how this experience has unfolded,” says Green. “Coming to U of T felt intimidating at first, and like many people, I experienced moments of imposter syndrome early on. Those feelings were short lived as I began to feel more grounded in my work and abilities. I have grown a great deal, both academically and personally, and I am proud of what I have accomplished.”
Sameena Eidoo, assistant professor, teaching stream, in the department of curriculum, teaching and learning, says Green has contributed meaningfully to collaborative learning environments. “Allison carries a deep sense of purpose in her work as an educator, and offers a pedagogy rooted in truth and love for her communities,” she says.
