109 volunteers recognized with U of T Arbor Awards

The University of Toronto has recognized 109 individuals with Arbor Awards, the university's highest honour for volunteers.

Created more than 30 years ago, the annual awards recognize volunteers who have significantly impacted life at the university, ranging from mentorship and governance to academic programming and experiential learning.

“Think for a moment of someone in your own life who stepped forward when it mattered; for so many of our students, you have been that person," said U of T President Melanie Woodin at a reception for the honorees. "Your guidance and generosity have shaped their university experience, making a profound impact in their life and deepening their connection to U of T.”

Chancellor Wes Hall added the collective efforts of volunteers set U of T apart among global institutions as a powerful engine of equity and opportunity.

“U of T stands virtually alone in providing widespread access to a world-class education, with exceptional research opportunities and vibrant campus experiences for a population of well over 100,000 students,” Hall said.
