'A time to reflect and rest': Principal Linda Johnston shares holiday wishes
Published: December 9, 2025
In her second holiday message as University of Toronto vice-president and principal, U of T Scarborough, Linda Johnston paid tribute to the university community, looked back on their array of accomplishments and encouraged students, faculty, staff and librarians to enjoy the holidays.
Reflecting on the last year, Johnston highlighted the enormous progress made on numerous fronts: from the construction of the Scarborough Academy of Medicine and Integrated Health (SAMIH) – slated to open in fall 2026 – to continued efforts to forge a more sustainable campus and strengthen the community’s culture of caring.
“As we close the year, let me give my personal thanks to everybody for making UTSC the caring, thriving, creative community that it is,” said Johnston, a professor in the Lawrence Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing.
"And remember: this is the time for everybody to take a pause, to reflect and to rest. Thank you for all that you do to make UTSC the place it is.”
