Six faculty members named to Royal Society of Canada’s College of New Scholars, Artists and Scientists

Six faculty members from the University of Toronto have been appointed to the Royal Society of Canada’s College of New Scholars, Artists and Scientists.
The college recognizes members of the emerging generation of Canadian intellectual leadership who have showcased exceptional accomplishment.
“These scholars are making key contributions in fields of tremendous importance across Canada and globally, from data-informed hospital care and geometry processing to intersections of political geography and documentary filmmaking,” said Leah Cowen, U of T’s vice-president, research and innovation, and strategic initiatives. “On behalf of the University of Toronto, I would like to congratulate them on their recognition by the Royal Society of Canada.”
The new college members from U of T are:
- Morgan Barense of the department of psychology in the Faculty of Arts & Science
- Sumit Gupta of the Hospital for Sick Children and the department of paediatrics in the Temerty Faculty of Medicine
- Alec Jacobson of the department of computer science in the Faculty of Arts & Science
- Fahad Razak of Unity Health Toronto and the department of medicine in the Temerty Faculty of Medicine
- Brett Story of the Cinema Studies Institute in the Faculty of Arts & Science
- András Tilcsik of the Rotman School of Management
