Five faculty members named to Royal Society of Canada’s College of New Scholars, Artists and Scientists

Five faculty members from the University of Toronto have been appointed to the Royal Society of Canada’s College of New Scholars, Artists and Scientists.
The college recognizes members of the emerging generation of Canadian intellectual leadership who have showcased exceptional accomplishment.
“From computational biology and disease modeling to Black Canadian literature and social justice, these faculty members are advancing discovery and knowledge in areas of critical importance in Canada and globally,” said Leah Cowen, U of T’s vice-president, research and innovation, and strategic initiatives.
“I would like to offer my congratulations on this well-deserved recognition of their impact.”
The new college members from U of T are:
- Xi Huang of the Hospital for Sick Children and the department of molecular genetics in the Temerty Faculty of Medicine
- Jude Kong of the Dalla Lana School of Public Health
- Carmen Logie of the Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work
- Karina Joan Vernon of the department of English at U of T Scarborough
- Bo Wang of the University Health Network, the department of laboratory medicine and pathobiology in the Temerty Faculty of Medicine and the department of computer science in the Faculty of Arts & Science
